2016 MTV Europe Music Awards; Olamide nominated for Best African Act


Nigerian hip-hop star, Olamide has been nominated for the 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards. The rapper is being nominated for Best African Act, a category that very few Nigerian superstars have won.
On the Best African Act category, Ol­amide stands side by side with some of African's finest and super talented artistes like Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest, Wizkid and Alikiba.
The artiste who recently returned from Toronto, Canada where he delivered what can best be described as a groundbreaking display of sheer talent, one of his best performances yet, has also been nominated for two other distinguished awards- the Movement Of Black Origin awards and the MTV Africa Music Award on the Best African Act and Best Hip- Hop Act categories respectively.
Olamide Adedeji known by his stage name Olamide, is a Nigerian hip hop recording artist. He records mostly in Yoruba, his native tongue.
The only Nigerian rapper in history to release five albums in five years, Olamide released his debut studio album Rapsodi in 2011 while signed to Coded Tunes. YBNL, his follow-up album, was released under his label imprint YBNL Nation.
Since his debut, he has released an album every year, also releasing a joint album with hip hop artist and producer, Phyno. Olamide became the first Nigerian to sign an endorsement deal with Cîroc. He has won several music awards, including multiple Nigeria Entertainment Awards and The Headies Awards.
