Grace Igwe connives with boy friend Sunday Ebasabor Bright to kidnap self to extort money from dad

www.odogwublog.com reports that one Grace Igwe,19, from Imo State, along with her boy friend, Sunday Ebasabor Bright from Esan North in Edo State, has been paraded this afternoon by the Abia State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping self to extort money from her father.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade who paraded the suspects yesterday in Umuahia, said the suspect who lived at 19 Agulu Street by Ibeku Road Umuahia, was on August 9, reported missing by the father, Mr. Igwe Obinna.

He said that following the report, police intensified search for the missing girl until recently when an unknown caller contacted the father and demanded a ransom of N50,000 " which was paid in parts".

The CP said police kept monitoring the account where the money was lodged until September 19 when one of the suspects, Bright showed up at Akpakpava area of Benin to make withdrawal, and promptly arrested.

He said the suspect later led the police to his house where the girl friend was kept, and she was rescued.

Later in an interview, the girl said she was hypnotized by some men in a taxi cab which she boarded one morning as she was hurrying to work.

She said the taxi driver was having a quarrel with one of the passengers who claimed he had a carton in the car booth loaded with money.

According to her, both parties later decided to go to a native doctor where the power of the purported charm over the money in dispute would be  neutralised, and every passenger in  the taxi would get a share.

She said the taxi was subsequently diverted to the home of the said native doctor where every occupant of the taxi was dispossessed of their personal belongings including cash and phones.

She said they were later forced to take an oath and asked to go and bring N200,000. before they would be free from the oath with a threat of instant death should they reveal what transpired to any family member.

" It was like a film to me; we were told that if we reveal what happened to any relation that we will vomit blood and die. So when they gave me transport money to go and bring the N200,000. I decided not to go home because I was afraid".

The girl said she decided to go to her boy friend living in Benin City to collect the N200,000 claiming that she lost some money in the office and was asked to replace it.

" I told him that I lost N200,000 in the office and was asked to pay for  it. I also told him that I did not want my people to know about it", she said.

She said the boy friend told her that he had no money to give her , insisting that her father be informed of the incidence for possible intervention.

According to her, she pleaded with him never to involve the father, hence the boy friend suspected that she was under a certain influence and insisted that she should open up.

" It was at this point that I told him the truth, and he said I have fallen into the hands of 419 people".

Corroborating her account, the boy friend said he started suspecting that she must have fallen victim of " 419 people" ( fraudsters) after she had spent days in his house and still insisted that her parents must not be told of the said missing money.

He said he became worried that the parents might be looking for her and decided to contact the father.

" When I called the father I told him that  she was arrested by the police  in Kebbi State and that money is needed to bail her ", he said.

The suspect said it was the girl that made him to lie to enable her get the money from the parents, claiming that he only wanted to help get her out of the trouble.
