www.odogwublog.com reports that Fulani Herdsmen yesterday wrote yet another Enugu Community of its planned attack.
The legislator representing Awgu North Constituency at the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Sunday Ude-Okoye, today raised alarm of an anticipated fresh attack by herdsmen in Enugu state,alleging that Fulani herdsmen have threatened to attack Aku community, in Igbo Etiti local government area of the state.
Hon Ude Okoye dropped this hints at the resumed plenary session of the state assembly, after their one month recess as a motion of deserving urgent attention. He appealed to the rest of Nigerians to come to the rescue of Enugu state, as the menace of Fulani herdsmen in the state matter are beyond the control of law enforcement agencies,operating in Enugu state.
His words, "I wish to condemn the menace perpetrated by the Fulanis in Enugu state. I wish to stand here to condemn it. Let other Nigerians help us since the Nigerian Police cannot protect us but rather they protect the Fulanis.
"There is no reason why they, the Fulani herdsmen, should come to our place to kill us, May the Almighty God hear the cry of Enugu people;. He expressed fears that Enugu state is under threat of extinction if nothing is done urgently.
The law maker lamented there have been incessant reports of rape of women, destruction of farmlands, kidnapping and armed robbery perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen in different parts of Enugu state.
He described the recent attack on Attakwu-Akegbe community, Nkanu West Local Government of the state at which a seminarian and a woman were murdered , while three others sustained serious injuries as very heinous..
The lawmaker also cast his mind back to the mayhem carried out on Ukpabi-Nimbo in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the state and alleged that the herdsmen have threatened to launch a fresh attack at community, Aku in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area.
When contacted by news men to comment on the alarm raised by Hon Ude Okoye, the Enugu state police public relations officer, PPRO, Mr Ebere Amaraizu,ASP, said the police is not aware of such threat, saying the law maker should come and brief the police appropriately.
