Prof Chinyere Stella Okunna stuns Academic World, donates Ultra Modern Studio Legacy building to Unizik (Exclusive)

The First female Professor of Mass Communication in Nigeria and Head of Department of Mass Communication, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. (Chief) Chinyere Stella Okunna, has done another first thing. She has built a massive structure with state of the art Broadcast equipment and studio for the department known as Legacy Building.
www.odogwublog.com reports Exclusively that no lecturer may have done that by himself or herself in Nigeria if not beyond.  We don’t have the record until this.

The building cost her millions of naira but she is happy. When contacted she confirmed building a legacy building. She didn’t want to speak further as according to her she has not handed it over the Vice Chancellor, Prof Joseph Ahaneku who will now decide on the official commissioning of the structure.
Already gradually but steady transfer to the new building is ongoing to create space for more lecture halls and other activities.
The building is to house the Unizik FM studio and staff as well as other future additions like Unizik television. Okunna has about 7 years to bow out from the University system after her 8 years as Commissioner in various capacities with mercurial former Governor Peter Obi but, each year she performs yet another miracle.
Last year, she built and donated a section of an ultra modern market to Igbakwu community. She kick started the building of the market to the happiness of her teacher and now traditional ruler of Igbakwu, Prof  Onuora Nwuneli. She  has given so many scholarships to her people and her husband’s people after building classroom block in Ukpo . As her boss Peter Obi donates from one angle , Okunna is donating from the other angle….and soon his son in Diaspora ‘myself’ would emulate them and start donating (lol)
This fellow of Nigerian Guild of Editors , variously served Anambra state under Obi as Commissioner for Information, Economic Planning/Budget, and Chief of Staff

Vintage Okunna said of her self recently: ‘’……. I was merely teaching and researching because I love to do research. I love writing papers and I am intelligent – at the risk of not sounding modest. While doing what I loved and enjoyed doing: writing papers, attending conferences, travelling, writing books, etc. Unconsciously, I was progressing on a career route towards professorship without knowing it. When they declared me first female Professor of Mass Communication, I screamed. I didn’t know who was where in the field or who was what; I just knew I was rising on the job by doing what I enjoyed doing. And somehow what I enjoyed doing led me to the pinnacle of the profession. I didn’t fuss; I didn’t plan anything, it just happened.
A woman of perfect loyalty hence two years after she still represents Obi at functions and events all over the world and she said recently:’’ …… how closely Peter Obi and I worked together, I am still loyal to him and everybody knows that. ….We still sometimes work together. Not long ago, we attended an MDGs programme in New York, where he was globally appreciated for the work we did in MDGs. There are a number of outings we attend together, so somehow we still work together. People know where I stand and given the present situation in terms of the relationship between Obi and Obiano…….
But Okunna is not a trendy person, she is not rather a ‘bush’ woman. She is not a fashionable person. She wears whatever she is comfortable in. She loves simple designs and traditional wear.
And hear her a little to understand: ‘’………………..Designers?..... What do you call designer perfume? Is it not because they are long lasting? I am a bit like Peter Obi; I don’t waste my money. I don’t spend money on expensive things I don’t require, so when I buy a designer perfume, I buy it because it lasts. I don’t like harsh fragrance. Rather I prefer something that is mild so that when you enter a room, you don’t disturb people’s nostrils with the strong smell of your perfume.
