'NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IS BROKE!'

Abuja - Senator Ali Ndume has revealed that
the Nigerian national Assembly is broke and is
having problems meeting up with its financial
obligations, Herald reports.
Ndume said this in reaction to reports that the
legislature was facing financial challenges, he
said that the situation was so worrisome that
legislators were not receiving their allowances
as and when due.
“I know that the whole country is in financial
difficulty, not only National Assembly.
I have been in the National Assembly since
2003 but things keep getting worse; I think
they paid us last month’s salary on the 16th of
the following month or thereabouts,” Ndume
told newsmen in Abuja.
He said it wasn’t only lawmakers facing this
problem, but other arms of the government are
also facing a lack of funds.
Ndume earlier warned agitators of the
restructuring of Nigeria to be careful of what
they wished for while saying that good
governance instead of restructuring was the
solution to strengthening the economy
according to News24 .
He added that the Federal Government needed
to focus on finding solutions to the enormous
challenges facing the country such as the
dwindling economy and security instead of
restructuring.
