MANY INJURED AS DANGOTE TRUCK RAMS INTO 7UP BOTTLING COMPANY TRUCK, OTHER VEHICLES ,AT 9TH MILE CORNER,ENUGU
Tragedy struck yesterday at 9th mile corner, a sub town few kilometers from Enugu metropolis, as a Dangote truck loaded with bags of cement,which supposedly had brake failure rammed into other vehicles,moving along 9th to Markudi/Abuja road, before it was finally waged by a faulty heavy truck belonging to 7up bottling company, stationed at center of the Tarmac.
As at the time of filing this report,the Enugu state police command public relations officer,PPRO, Mr Ebere Amaraizu,confirmed the report when contacted on phone but said he is yet to get feed back on the number of casualties.
An eyewitness told 'The Authority' that the accident which occurred beside 7up bottling company base camp, along 9th mile to Abuja/Markudi road, at about eleven o'clock in the morning, was allegedly caused by an obstruction by a faulty 7up bottling company truck, parked at the center of the road.
Consequently, there was traffic grid lock as most vehicles moving on the road took to the option of meandering through the bush to pass over the broken down 7up truck. Unfortunately, as the Dangote truck approached the scene of the grid luck, it's driver lost control of the truck obviously due to break failure, crushed many other vehicles,and finally was waged by the faulty 7up company truck
The Authority gathered that many passengers in the commuter buses that was smashed by the Dangote truck sustained injuries and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
At the time of filing this report,the exact number of casualties could not be ascertained. The police public relations officer, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, said that his men sent to the scene of the accident were yet to give him a feed back, while effort were intensified to inform the Road Safety Corps about the accident.
His words,"They will soon clear the vehicles involved in the accident. We have sent some men and they are yet to bring us the number of casualties'.
