JAIL BREAK.....About 15 INMATES ESCAPE FROM NSUKKA PRISON, OFFICEERS HUNTED TWO AT....

About fifteen inmates serving different jail sentences at Nsukka prison in Enugu state have escaped aftermath of a jailbreak that occurred on Tuesday night, August 9.

The Authority gathered from sources that don't want to be quoted in print that the inmates broke their cells, were climbing  over the perimeter fence of the prison yard and before prison officials who were on night duty discovered what was happening, about fifteen of them have successfully scaled over the perimeter fence and escaped.

 As at the time of filing this report, the controller of prisons in Nsukka ,Mr Lawrence Okonkwo, have  confirmed the jailbreak to a group of news men but declined to give the exact number of inmates that escaped.

His words, “Yes there was a jailbreak last night in Nsukka prison but I am not in a position to say how many prisoners escaped”.

“We are expecting the Enugu state prisons controller, Mr Isaiah Amariri, in Nsukka prison so that we can brief him on what happened last night.'

“He will be the one to tell the public the number of inmates that escaped, the re-arrested ones and efforts put in place to arrest those still on the run.”

A checks revealed that officials of Nigerian prison in Nsukka were dispatched in various parts of Nsukka yesterday, searching for the escaped prisoners, stating that two of the escapees have been re arrested. While the search for others continues today.
