Breaking News: NDLEA arrests Chidiebere Vincent Anioke from Enugu with N1.7 Billion Drugs in Anambra

www.odogwublog.com reports that a 31year old suspected drug peddler from Udi Local Government area of Enugu State was yesterday, paraded by the Anambra State Command of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

The suspect, Chidiebere Vincent Anioke was arrested at Awka in Anambra State by the eagle eyed NDLEA officials following a tip off while trying to convey a substance, Solid Methamphetamines that weighed 25.200Kg from Enugu to Lagos enroute Anambra State.

Parading the suspect at Onitsha, the NDLEA State Commander, Mr. Sule Mamudu said they got a hint last week from a good Nigerian that Methamphetamines will be shipped from Enugu to Lagos through Anambra state and they quickly mobilised their men who intercepted the suspect at Awka, weighed the substance that tested positive.

Mr. Mamudu, who described methamphetamines as one of the most potent illicit drug all over the world, noted that investigations are still on and should the suspect be found guilty, he will be charged to court.

He however revealed that a kilogramme of the substance amounts to 150milloin US Dollas, which amounts to about 1.7 billion naira.

“Production of Methamphetamines produces lots of financial gains. You can imagine what happens to anybody that makes this money in a community, he will instigate crisis and recruit more people to commit crimes and ferment troubles in the society.

“So, if we don’t fight the monster now, they will take over institutions and that is why we are appealing to our people to help us with relevant information that will led to where the drug is being produced as its production constitutes health hazard to the people residing in the area because the  chemical is very toxic and destroys eco system.

“According to our forensic expert, an environment where Methamphetamines is being produced exposes the inhabitants to cancer and children in that environment can be deformed.

The NDLEA Commander emphasised that three laboratories of the illicit drug has been discovered in Anambra, adding that the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has promised a reward of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000) to any individual that can oblige information on the location of any Lab in the state.
