Anambra 2017: Hon Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne in trouble as PDP shops for credible candidate from Anambra North

Ahead the Anambra 2017 governorship election, former executive member of the Peoples DemocraticParty(PDP) Chief Okechukwu Okafor said it has become imperative to bring a better material fromAnambra North senatorial zone to complete the two tenure to be enjoyed by the zone.

Chief Okafor was reacting to a claim by Gov Willie Obiano's SSA, political, Tony-CollinsNwanbunwane that Anambra state would return to crises days if the zone is not allowed to complete its eight years double tenure.

The PDP stalwart who spoke with journalists in Nnewi yesterday stated that the performance of the incumbent governor is so abysmal and that the only thing that will make power to remain in Anambra North is for a better candidate to emerge from the zone.

He alleged that Obiano is only working on bill boards and in the wild imaginations of his appointees as well as paid sycophants who have lost touch with reality of what is actually on ground in the state.

Chief Okafor identified the inability of the governor to conduct local government election to deepen democracy in the state as a major failure and a move to drag the state backward noting that any approach that would make the governor a sole administrator is not acceptable.

"There is no justification whatsoever for non conduct of local government election, if the president had refused to conduct guber poll over one flimsy excuse or the other, definitely Obiano himself will not have the opportunity to come on board."

The PDP strongman however recalled with nostalgia how the incumbent governor abused the confidence the whole state imposed on the North Senatorial zone and thus has cast the zone as one that lacked the human capital to perform like the last two Governors from the Central Senatorial zone had done.

"People like Nwanbunwanne should go and ask the market women who are moved from one market to another on weekly basis if Willie is working or not, they should drive on Nnewi-Okija junction road as well as other roads in the state that have become death traps due to massive potholes and make public their experience."

He further urged the APGA leadership in the state to visit Awada, Ogbaru, and parts of Nnewi South where floods and erosion have swallowed homes and destroyed property worth millions of Naira.
Chief Okafor said that the governor during his inauguration declared a zero tolerance for potholes on roads in the state. He threatened that the inauguration speech would soon be re-produced and circulated among the good people of the state so as to make it public if he has back his promises with action.

The PDP boss said he agreed totally with the declaration by a former governor Dr Chris Ngige who is the serving Minister of Labour and Productivity that the incumbent governor would be flushed out of Government House in the next election for incompetence.

He said people like Nwanbunwanne calling the former governor attention seeker have just demonstrated their total lack of knowledge about Anambra state but reassured him that the people ofAnambra do not intend to deny the North their second tenure but “definitely not Chief Willie Obiano”.
