ANNOUNCEMENT OF DEATH AND INVITATION OF THE BURIAL OF OUR DEVOUT MATRIARCH, LATE MADAM SABINA AFOMA OMENUGHA (MMACHINYERE, NEE EJIKE)
With utmost Gratitude to God for a remarkable life spent, the family have the honour to most respectfully announce the death of and invite you to the funeral ceremony of our devout Matriarch, Madam Sabina Afoma Omenugha (Mmachinyere, Nee Ejike). Aged 98 years, her passing on marked the end of her generational era in Omenugha and Ejike families both of Umuru village, Nnobi, Anambra State.
A BRIEF ON LATE MADAM SABINA AFOMA OMENUGHA (MMACHINYERE, NEE EJIKE)
Madam Sabina Afoma Omenugha (Mmachinyere) (Nee Ejike) died at the ripe age of 98 years as a Matriarch of Omenugha Family. For generations she has held the Omenugha family together as the strong woman and pillar. For 51 years, she held her head high as a widow of Late Michael Omenugha of the Nigerian army having lost her husband in her forties. Her passing on marked the end of her generational era in Omenugha and Ejike families both of Umuru village, Nnobi, Anambra State.
Madam Sabina strove singlehandedly to raise up her children. She never failed to recount the promise she made to her husband on his death bed that their children would be trained abroad. She worked tirelessly to achieve that. God was on her side, as her three sons all travelled abroad in search of the Golden Fleece. She was a very industrious woman who delved into several enterprises including and not limited to palm oil business and her renowned ogiri making venture. In her hay days she used to travel to Lagos to sell her palm oil, which she doggedly produced through “Agwu igwe.” Her constant sojourn to Lagos earned her the name “Mama Lagos”.
Mama was a great Catholic woman who at some point in her life was one of the women representatives from her ward. She equally represented her ward at the “inyom Nnobi” the gathering of all married women in Nnobi. She was very fearless and always stood for the truth. Mama was very generous and charitable, keeping her home open for all as they came to draw water from her well. God had blessed Madam Sabina with a socially stable family, spiritual and material wealth; particularly with His special gift of Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren – most of who reside in Canada and United States of America.
Among others, Mama is the Mother-in-law to the incumbent Anambra State Honourable Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha and Grandmother of Nelson Obinna Omenugha, 2009/10 President of the Students’ Union Government, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
She belonged to many social clubs including “Sweet mother” and “Obedient daughters”.
Therefore, kindly accept our invitation to her funeral ceremony. We shall be greatly honoured to have you also publicise her peaceful demise.

Venue: St Paul’s Catholic Church, Nnobi (Along Awka-Etiti Road)
Time: 10am
