Federal Neuo-Psychiatric Hospital workers demand sack of NLC Chairman IN Enugu

Workers at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu, yesterday urged  the state chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress,NLC, Comrade Virginus Nwobodo Chuks to resign from his position, for attempting to instigate crisis in the hospital.

The workers who operate under the  aegis of ' Association of Psychiatric Nurses of Nigeria, said there reason is based on the call for the removal of their Chief Medical Director, CMD, Dr Jojo Onwukwe by Comrade Nwobodo,  for no just cause. The association wondered when Comrade Nwobodo has transformed  to become the mouth piece of the association and urged him to resign in good fate.

Nwobodo had in a press statement issued in Enugu earlier in same yesterday.accused  the Chief Medical Director,CMD,  of working against the interest of his workers and would be removed.

But  in a swift reaction, the workers in a statement signed by all the executive members, of their association including the chairman, Maduka Chibuzo and the secretary, Iroegbulam  Chibuzo stated that the state  NLC chairman is not their staff, and what must have given him the audacity to make such comments.

The workers considered his steps in that direction as dubious and in tension to cheat. 

They stared,"We have it on good authority that a handful of persons that were interdicted for various crimes contributed money and gave him to blackmail the Medical Director and the Hospital. With this, he now assumed our mouth piece, even without consulting us.

"We, therefore, want to state categorically that we are at peace with our Medical Director and that we do not have any problem with him", the workers maintained.
While stating that no congress was held in the hospital where any issue affecting their welfare was discussed, the aggrieved workers told Nwobodo to immediately resign from his position until he cleared himself of allegations of "bribery, corruption, unjust enrichment and incompetence, leveled against him."

"We do hereby state categorically that there is no human rights abuse in our hospital by our Medical Director and that we are enjoying our Medical Director as our Chief Executive and that Mr. Nwobodo has no right to call for his removal, and he does not speak for us.
"Besides, he has called for strike actions numerous times but the workers rebuffed him because he does not speak for the workers, rather for his selfish interest", they added.
