Emeakayi apologizes to Obiano says he is doing great job

Anambra State may have set yet another example for the rest of Nigeria in party politics with the recent dramatic turn by the state chapter of the PDP led by Prince Ken Emeakyi who recently heaped praises on the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano for doing a great job in the state.
In a letter dated July 11, 2016, Prince Emeakayi who is the Chairman of PDP in Anambra State used the backdrop of Obiano’srecent honour as a winner of the coveted Zik Prize for Leadership in the Good Governance category, to commend the governor’s giant strides in the development of Anambra State.
“May the spirit of the great Zik of Africa, and the euphoria of the prestigious Zik Leadership award boost Your Excellency into more action in the areas you have done well and also to strengthen you to improve on the sections where you may not have excelled for the betterment of Ndi Anambra and the glory of God,” the party Chairman declared in his letter.
Emeakayi’s Letter which comes on the heels of Governor Obiano’s recent decoration as a winner of the Zik Prize and months before the commencement of campaign for Obiano’s second term, marks a milestone in party relations in Anambra State and signals the likely emergence of enlightened opposition in Nigerian politics as a whole.
The import of the PDP Chairman’s noble action can be best appreciated when viewed within the context of the fact that Emeakayi had hitherto represented the face of organised opposition in Anambra State, issuing vitriolic press statements and pointing accusing fingers at the APGA-led government in the state.
It would be recalled that Anambra has always played an outstanding role in the evolution of the Nigerian democracy, the last such great effort being the titanic struggle by the previous administration to retrieve its stolen mandate through the law courts which lent a great depth to our nascent democracy and offered roots to the nation’s judiciary.
In much the same way, Emeakayi’s Letter stands out as a true rupture in the all-too-familiar bitter tone of opposition politics in Nigeria and ominously signposts the future of a more enlightened, urban approach to politics as a whole.
