Piqued by a statement credited to the national Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance ( APGA), Chief Victor Oye, that the renewed agitation for Biafra was borne out of frustration, the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has warned the APGA boss to guard his utterances.
IPOB in a press release by its Media and Publicity Officer, Emma Nmezu, debunked the statement , explaining that those behind the agitation " are not frustrated people but accomplished individuals in their various callings".
According to IPOB, the renewed agitation for Biafra is the collective will of the people of Biafra who were never consulted before the colonial masters crammed them into Nigeria, but now want to have their Independent country.
The statement read in part: " We want to state it again that the agitation for Biafra state was not out of frustration.
"The agitation for the restoration of Biafra did not come as a result of frustration on the side of IPOB. It is the very project that must be accomplished because God selected those championing the cause of Biafra not man.
"They are educated, professionals and qualified for the job. Therefore, anybody calling the pro Biafra agitators the frustrated people are making the mistake of his or her life.
"IPOB did not come out for the restoration of Biafra for any other benefit from anybody rather than to liberate our people and no other thing.
" We are not interested in the road construction again and we cannot go back to this contraption called Nigeria."
IPOB accused APGA of conniving with the federal government to suppress the agitation for Biafra, expressing disappointment that APGA has deviated from the ideals of its founding fathers.
" This statement credited to the APGA chairman Chief Victor Oye shows the entire public how the party and the Anambra state governor Chief Willie Obiano collaborated with the federal government killed unarmed civilians during our peaceful remembrance day event in Anambra because he feel's they are frustrated people.
"The supreme leader of the party late Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu formed the party for the welfare of his people not to kill them in the name protecting political ambition and since he left the world all those busy body in the party are making every effort to ensure that they kill the party and now it is dead.
"The man Chief Oye who have not come out openly to condemned the killing of unarmed civilians during the peaceful remembrance events on 30th May 2016 now he come out to condemned the organization that is bigger than him."
IPOB also lambasted critics linking it with violence, while restating its non violence philosophy for the actualisation of Biafra autonomy.
It also distanced itself from individuals holding meetings with politicians with the claims that they are IPOB members.
IPOB also said that any efforts by the the federal government to resolve the agitation for Biafra without first releasing its detained leader Nnamdi Kanu would not work.
" Any efforts made by Federal government to set up any group or committee to look into Biafra agitation without the release of our leader mazi Nnamdi Kanu to lead the team will not work because he is the man we trust no other person", the statement said.
