www.odogwublog.com reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday came under fire from the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Anambra state chapter for sitting on the fence on the delayed conduct of the Senatorial elections into the Anambra Central senatorial zone.
IPAC frowned at the contineud delay  by the INEC and calls on INEC to fix a date forthwith and take urgent steps towards conducting the Anambra Central Senatorial District election as ordered by the Court of Appeal to fill the vacancy that occurred by removal of Senator Uche Ekwunife.
IPAC in a statement signed by 13 political parties including All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party (LP), PDC, PPA among others  warns that further denial to the good people of Anambra Central Senatorial District of their right to adequate representation at the senate chambers shall be considered anathematic and a clear indication of the continued marginalization of the interest of Ndigbo within the Nigerian Polity’’.
The statement read in part: ‘’The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Anambra state chapter has noted with grave concern the lingering impasse concerning the Senatorial seat for the Anambra Central District. It is not in doubt that the citizenry in the entire Anambra Central Senatorial District has been left without adequate representation at the Upper/ Hallowed Chambers of the National Assembly.
This current state of affairs has left the good people of Anambra Central Senatorial District disorientated and disenchanted with the continued absence of  a senator of Anambra Central Senatorial District extraction and the consequent loss to the senatorial District of its accrued benefits, rights and other dividends currently being enjoyed by other senatorial districts in the country with adequate representation.
Furthermore, the vacancy currently created by this political quagmire has seen the Anambra Central Senatorial District lose its pride of place as one of the foremost and politically advanced senatorial districts in the Federation.
It is against this backdrop that the inter-party Advisory Counci (IPAC,) Anambra state chapter summoned an emergency meeting held on Monday the 9th day of May, 2016 at the Parktonian Hotels and Suites , Awka to seek a lasting political solution to this lingering crisis. The council noted , inter alia , that the delay in the conduct of the senatorial election for Anambra Central Senatorial District to freely choose their representative at the senate. Consequently , the cuncil came up with the following resolutions:
‘’The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Anambra state Chapter condemns in strongest terms the continued denial of a serving Senator of Anambra Central Senatorial District occasioned by the political impasse brought about by selfish interests of few self serving politicians from the senatorial district.
‘’The Council notes that following the Court of Appeal judgment that nullified the election of Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife and the consequent order for a fresh election within 90 days from the 7th day of December , 2015 , the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to conduct an election to fill the vacancy occassioned by Court of Appeal judgment.
‘’Consequently, the Council calls on the Indpendent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fix a date forthwith and take urgent steps towards conducting the Anambra Central Senatorial District election as ordered by the Court of Appeal to fill the vacancy.
‘’The council warns that further denial to the good people of Anambra Central Senatorial District of their right to adequate representation at the senate chambers shall be considered anathematic and a clear indication of the continued marginalization of the interest of Ndigbo within the Nigerian Polity’’, IPAC concluded.
Aside Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) that did not sign the document but are interested in the eletction, other political parties that signed the document included PPN, PPP, ACPN, ADC, ACCORD, AD, FDP, ACD, and DPC.
ADC faults IPAC on Anambra Senatorial Election

The senatorial candidate of the African Democracy Congress (ADC), Comrade Anayo Nweke, had faulted the decision of IPAC yesterday, saying that their action was contempt because there was a pending case at the court of Appeal instituted by him.
But ADC Chairman , Hon Paul U Asha was part of the people that signed th IPAC press statement.
Nweke said among his prayers included that INEC should not fix a date for the election pending the determination of the substantive suit.
Nweke, also questioned the competence of INEC to fix a date when the 90 days given during the judgment that stopped Ekwunife had gone, adding that it would be improper for INEC to delve into such an issue at least for now.
Also, he claimed that there was another pending appeal at the Supreme Court between PDP and others.
