Cute dog who had its eyes gouged out by abusers given new life by caring animal lover

AN abused dog who had its eyes ripped out by a group of thugs has been adopted by a British animal lover.
Nym, who is thought to be seven years old, was savagely blinded while living in a kennel in Romanian capital Bucharest.
Thankfully, the poor animal was rescued and flown to the UK with the help of Blind Dogs Rescue UK.

In February 2013, the dog was adopted by canine enthusiast Sian Porter, 38, and now lives a happy and carefree life in Hastingwood, Essex.
However, Sian, who is a nurse at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, said that frail Nym was clearly traumatised when she first met her.
She said: “Nym was trembling with fear when she first arrived.

“Every time that I attempted to walk her on a lead, she would fall to the ground and whimper. It was heart breaking.”
Sian even admitted that Nym was so terrified of people, she would wet herself if anyone tried to touch her.
But the adorable hound had a breakthrough after six weeks with Sian, when she went to the dog groomers.

Sian said: “I eagerly rushed back to pick her up, worried about what kind of state she would be in.
“When I arrived, she was cowering in the corner of her crate after having had a bath.
“But then, something amazing happened. I called Nym’s name – and she responded for the very first time.
“Slowly finding her feet, she wandered towards the direction of my voice before burying her head into my neck.
“And that’s when I knew that I had to have her forever.”
Nym’s life has been transformed since the adoption and she even represents Blind Dog Rescue UK at Crufts.
She has also made some doggy friends too – Pedro, a cross, who is also blind, and Morgan, a feisty West Highland white terrier.
Sian added: “My heart bursts with pride when I look at Nym and see how far she has come”
