Blood thirsty Fulani herdsmen are bokoharamists--Dr Igwilo alleges

The President General of Njikota Umunri World Wide Assembly, Dr David Igwilo on Wednesday says the violent and blood thirsty Fulani herdsmen who are going round the country killing and maiming people as well as burning down their victims' houses and sources of livelihood are bokoharam insurgents employing different tactics.

Igwilo who is also the Ezeonyerigolu-oda of Igboland made told Authority in his Nnewi office that the activities of the herdsmen in recent time has demonstrated character traits of the insurgents who wrecked havoc in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria.

"The nomadic Fulani herdsmen have been traveling round the country since Nigeria was almagamated in 1914, they have never constituted themselves as thorn in the flesh of their hosts as it is the case now, this should give all Nigerians food for thought."

He noted that the herdsmen are not new to the Igbos and Yorubas pointing out that the recent attacks with weapons of mass destruction like AK47, Mark4 and other deadly weapons gives an indication that the invasions of the southern part of the country may actually be handiwork of bokoharamists pushed away in their enclave in the North-East by the military.

"My major problem with Nigeria government is that they like to pretend a lot, instead of them to give the issue a serious security attention it deserves with immediate effect and tackle the so called Fulani herdsmen who have declared war on Nigeria, they will be treating the matter with kid glove until it snowball into crises that will be difficult to manage.

Dr Igwillo recalled that when people were shouting that the issue of bokoharam in the North-East was a total war, the government kept on pretending that it was a religious crises that would resolve itself.

The PG of Umunri World Wide Assembly also berated the nation's law enforcement agencies for always downplaying the causality figures in a desperate attempt to keep their job. "I just heard that the Enugu state commissioner of police said it was only seven people that were killed in the latest attack when local and international media put the figure in the neighborhood of one hundred."

He passionately appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to rise to the occasion and give the needed security to every part of the country and particularly frontally confront the Fulani herdsmen who are out to make Nigeria ungovernable for his administration by empowering local vigilante squads in every community.

Igwilo also tasked the Igbos home and abroad to embrace their gods which are capable of protecting their lands from any form of attack instead of calling on foreign gods that can help them.
