Anambra Community Leadership Crises ; Police deny extortion, bias...warn trouble makers

Anti-Cultism Squad of the Anambra state Police command yesterday described as false, baseless and frivolous the allegation against it by a section of the Otoko Isuaniocha community, Awka North Local Government Area, througj one Chief Onyeagolu Anthony that it is bias in its investigation of the leadership crises which has torn the community apart.

Reacting to the allegation in which Chief Anthony accused the police of extorting money from those arrested , the   squad commander in the state, Mr Bako Gado, regretted that some enemies of progress in the community that are self-centred should continue to hold the community hostage by formenting trouble aimed at enriching themselves at the detriment of others

He advised them to turn a new leaf and avoid acts capable of dragging the image of the community to the mud and warned that criminals would be made to face the wrath of the law adding "when we were treating their matter one of them who is based in Ghana came and took the case file to Abuja"

"The problem there is leadership and not land issue and we did not extort money from anybody as they alleged rather they alleged these things to distract attention from their evil action because police wanted to expose their evil"

in a swift reaction the Caretaker committee chairman for Peace who was appointed by the daughters and inlaws (Umuada/Nwadiani) of the community, Chief Donatus Okeke accused the Onyeagolu family of causing the problems in the area stating that "they think the chairmanship seat is thier birth right"

"they should leave the police alone  and do the right thing by allowing others to be chairmen  and respect others"

"Over #1.5millon worth of economic trees that included iroko and mahogany located at Ofia Orie have been cut, hewed and sold off by people who want to impose leadership on us" he said.

"The former chairman, Paulinus Onyeagolu resigned his appointment after three years to complete a four year tenure and personally submitted his resignation letter and now he is back to be the chairman and we say no and that is the problem today because their brother in Ghana who is funding the Onyeagolu family asked him to come back" he further revealed.

"Please let our able Governor Willie Obiano come to our rescue before they sell us and our inheritance" he pleaded
