IPOB calls for DNA test of herdsmen corpses; Dares minority tribes group over threat to go to ICC

The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra ( IPOB), has called for a Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test of the corpses of the five Fulani herdsmen allegedly abducted and later found in shallow graves in Abia .

The Department of  State Services ( DSS) had last week accused IPOB of responsibility for the dastardly act, warning against possible reprisal in other parts of the country.

According to DSS, the  corpses of the herdsmen were found in a shallow grave in Abia forest along with other 50 corpses of yet to be identified persons .

But Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, and his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha, had after a joint emergency security meeting  in Umuahia on Monday, condemned the act but blamed it on kidnappers terrorising residents of both states.

They said it had no ethnic coloration contrary to DSS allegation, arguing that out of the seven corpses found in the said graves two were Igbo while five were herdsmen.

Meanwhile , IPOB has called for the immediate DNA test of the said herdsmen corpses to ascertain their true identity and the actual cause of their death, denying any involvement in their alleged killing.

The pro- Biafran group in a press statement issue yesterday said that it had been vindicated by the explanations of the governors that kidnappers were rather responsible for the killing.

According to the statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary , Emma Powerful, the contradiction in the explanations of the Governors and the report of the DSS, confirmed its position that DSS deliberately wanted to used the allegation to blackmail it as a terror organisation.

Suspecting a foul play in the entire scenario, IPOB called on the international community to press for the DNA test of the corpses to verify its authenticity.

The statement read in part: "As the world reflects on the implications of this epic movie on our consciousness, the 22 million IPOB faithful from Benue to Delta, from Kogi to Bayelsa and beyond, plead with the international community to kindly and quickly investigate the corpses (if any) found by the DSS and conduct a thorough DNA coroner inquest, just to confirm to the world, what we have always known.

"God  will certainly expose the remaining corpses of the over 200 IPOB  members killed between Nov. 2015 and Feb. 10, 2016".

IPOB also carpeted the self - acclaimed leader of an amorphous group called Conference of Minority Tribes of Nigeria (CMTN), Comrade Samson  Babalola, for his threat to drag IPOB to the International Criminal Court over the said killing.

Babalola the Coordinator of CMTN, had during a press briefing in Abuja, condemned IPOB for the alleged killing which he described as a crime against humanity.

But IPOB in a swift reaction said Babaloba and his co- travelers were hired by the enemies of the Biafra project to drive on their agenda of portraying IPOB as a terror organisation.

"The script writers of this funny movie changed gear. They hired one unknown quantity called Samson Babalola and his equally non-existent “minority” conference to entertain the world about a trip to the ICC, which by the way has remained IPOB’S dream and prayer."

Accusing Gov. Okorocha of storming Umuhaia to intimidate Gov. Ikpeazu to admit the said killing without verifications , IPOB said the Imo governor was under pressure by the architects of the "drama" to sustain "the lie that there was any killing".

"Again the world mocked Babalola the clown and his pay masters to no end. Then, the screenplay got more interesting, as the movie producer and director changed cast, by hiring their famous actor in Owerri.

"He was instructed in Hausa language to head to Umuahia immediately and do all he can to convince the world that five Fulani herdsmen were actually killed and buried in Abia.

"Humanity can’t stop asking, what was the initial agenda, when they deliberately chose to frame the IPOB for the murder of the still unconfirmed Fulani’s?.

Secondly, but for the uproar from all quarters and an acknowledgment from the whole world that this mindless  frame up would lead to grave unimaginable blood bath, this tragic-comedy could have played out, just to paint IPOB black at the expense of thousands or may be tens of thousands of lives that would have invariable been destroyed, just so, some people would blindly have their way.

"Thirdly, the fire brigade attempt, firstly by the jester Samson Babalola and Co and then the renowned actor of Owerri government house and his Umuahia trip, in order to douse tension and attempt to repair an already damaged story line, clearly confirms to the world, that the earlier accusation on IPOB by the DSS over the weekend clearly had sinister motives.

"People all over the world are wondering, when the script changed from, (yet to be confirmed five Fulani) “KILLED BY IPOB", to now 'KILLED BY CRIMINARLS AND KIDNAPPERS'. This continuous, toying with the people’s intelligence is clearly nauseating and irritating to all decent people.

"The script writers of this shameless tragic-comedy, the camera men, the directors and producers, including the star of the movie from Owerri government house, whose desperation to become Vice President in 2019, has blinded their senses of reasoning".
