The lingering crisis in Obosi community yesterday consumed its President-General, Sir Dan Igbokwubili, as the members of the Obosi Development Union (ODU) passed a vote of no confidence on him, thus suspending him from office.
The resolution upholding his suspension was signed by 16 members of the 18-member executive committee who alleged that he contravened four different rules of the community he vowed to protect.
The release signed by the 16 members including his first Vice President General, Emeka Chude and Publicity Secretary, Eneanya Obiechina said a seven man investigative panel has been set up to look into the allegations within two weeks.
The charges against Igbokwubili read in part that “the President-General converted revenue derived from the Obosi central sewage dump amounting to N822,000 to his personal use. This amount was not reflected in his statement of account to the central executive committee on 8th October, 2015.
When contacted, Igbokwubili admitted that there was an issue which he has reported to the leadership of Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) led by Dr. Jude Okolo.
He said the state government has not made its position known and ASATU insisted the community should bring the matter to them before arriving at a conclusion. He said he was at the ASATU meeting, and explained his side of the story.
Meanwhile, the high powered committee set by Governor Willie Obiano to resolve the issues in Obosi has concluded its sitting and its report is being awaited.
