Umeh Gains more fans after arrest by DSS

Thousands of people allegedly trooped to Enugu International Airport and at Awka and Lodge to receive the Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) , Chief Victor Umeh after he was released.

But before then he has been declared missing by his immediate family, even as the wife Lady Prisca Umeh and children are worried over the health of their patriarch. There is already tension among the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) across the federation as members discuss the development in clusters.

Umeh’s wife raised the alarm to newsmen after his driver came home without him and informed he was hauled into a rickety pick up van by DSS and whisked off to Abuja on allegation that he is sponsoring Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

But investigations showed Umeh was arrested and whisked to Abuja yesterday morning by the State Security Service (SSS) when he came to honour their invitation.

Umeh was invited to the headquarters of DSS at Amawbia, near Awka, at about 9 am in the morning by the security personnel but rather than subject him to statement or interview as they call it, he was ushered into a standby Pick Up van the driver allegedly described as rickety and about 11am, he was taken out of the DSS headquarters in a pick-up van en-route to  Abuja.

Umeh it was leant  was to be humiliated by that act as he has never entered a bus to Abuja in the last ten years only for him to be taken in a rickety van based on frivolous petitions against him alleging he is a supporter of the pro-Biafra Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The source said: “I am right now at Aguluzigbo, country home of Chief Victor Umeh. His wife told me that he was arrested in the morning by men of the security service and taken to their state headquarters.

"But at about 11 am, he was taken from the state headquarters to Abuja in a pick-up van. They said that they received petitions against him that he supports IPOB. They pointed accusing fingers on some of his known opponents who may have sponsored that petition.
"Right now, you cannot reach Umeh on any of his mobile phones. It is like they left his phones in his car".

My source said his family is worried that in the increasing tension that has enveloped Anambra political terrain, Umeh may run into some harm and it is part of this reason that they decided to let Nigerians know his fate now.

The Authority informs that had the Anambra Central Senatorial re-run was not shifted , Umeh was the strongest candidate after Supreme court nullified Senator Uche Ekwunife’s position and even barred her from contesting under PDP allegedly, though she is contesting it in court.


But further investigations revealed that Umeh’s arrest was not unconnected with his live programme at Odenigbo FM live where he insisted that killing of IPOB members who were unarmed was reckless as the IPOB members were only expressing dissatisfaction on the marginalization  of Ndigbo. Umeh at the programme condemned the order for shoot at sight by Rivers Governor Nwike.
The Authority called Umeh’s wife Prisca Chinenye for further clarifications, she confirmed the tales but probably she was already entering the air craft her statements were blurred before the phone went off. She was saddened as the ever vivacious Prisca was a shadow of herself as perceived by her voice.
Meanwhile, the Members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), are already raising alarm that nothing should happen to Chief Victor Umeh as he has not done anything incriminating aside allegations that he is supporting when there is no evidence.
IPOB member who said he is not authorized to speak to the press insisted that Umeh has not supported the IPOB in any way unless by condemning evil and atrocious acts against Ndigbo and IPOB members like shooting innocent civilians with live bullets.
