Rotary International honours Emeka Offor, inducts Ifeanyi Ubah



Rotary Club International has honoured two prominent Nigerian business moguls, Sir Emeka Offor and Chief Ifeanyi Ubah, for their support to human¬itarian causes both in Nigeria and globally.

Sir Emeka Offor, the Chairman of Chrome Group, an oil services con-glomerate, received a special award and a commemorative plaque in recognition of his role as one of the biggest donors in support of the global war against polio.
He was given The Internation¬al Service Award for a Polio Free World, “in recognition of his signif¬icant active and personal service to¬wards the goal of polio eradication”.
The President of the Rotary Club International, Mr K.R. Ravin¬dran, presented the award in Abuja yesterday to Sir Emeka Offor – and handed over the special plaque to him.
An elated Sir Emeka Offor later hosted the visiting Rotary Club President, his wife, other officials and mem¬bers, friends and well-wishers to a lunch reception in Abuja yesterday.
Another prominent business mogul, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, the Chairman of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Ltd., and the Publisher of The AUTHORITY newspapers, was admitted as an AKAS member of the Rotary Club District 9140, also in appreciation of his services to hu¬manity and the achievement of the goals of the Rotary Club.
Chief Ubah was full of joy at being admitted to the AKAS membership of District 9140 and pledged to continue to sup¬port the philanthropic goals of the club in Nigerian in particular and the world at large.
