One person was killed on Thursday night when armed robbers attacked a popular supermarket along Ekpo-Abasi Road in Calabar, Cross River.
The owner of the supermarket was shot and is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the city.
The incident occurred at about 9:00pm.
An eyewitness said the four-man robbery gang stormed the supermarket and shot the owner in the process.
“When they were leaving, one of the boys jumped on a cab and wanted to snatch it. But the driver of the cab refused and was still driving to save himself. The boy shot him dead and smashed his windscreen. The robbers snatched a vehicle at gunpoint and escaped,” the eyewitness said.
