www.odogwublog.com reports exclusively that Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON will deliver the Convocation lecture of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, (COOU) formerly Anambra state University on Thursday 17th March, 2016 at the TETfund Auditorium Igbariam campus by 12 Noon.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Fidelis Okafor announced this Tuesday evening during a pre-convocation press briefing at the University.
Prof Okafor informed that Governor Willie Obiano would be commissioning on 18th March Gigantic Law Auditorium of built by Ben Nwazoji, SAN foundation to immortalize the famous man in the bar and the Feed Mill of the University courtesy of faculty of Agriculture built and donated by Chief Vincent Amaechi Obianado , CEO of the Young Shall Grow motors to the university.
He said 2020 students will receive first degree accolades while 200 for Msc , 300 for PGD and 20 for PhD during the 7th convocation ceremonies of the University at the convocation arena , Igabriam campus.
Prof Okafor said the convocation  is unique event as it coincided with 2 years in office of Governor Willie Obiano and that the visit in  person of Senator Akpabio who was awarded in 2013 Doctor of Law  of the University but he was unable to receive it physically hence the University would enrobe him this Friday as well as present him his certificate.

www.odogwublog.com reports further that the former Governor of Akwa Ibom state would be in Anambra for two days to honour the university and a book presentation in honour of Governor Obiano’s two years in office at Women Development center Awka. The topic of his Convocation lecture is ‘’The Nigerian Question: Ethics on the age of uncertainty’’.
COOU Vice Chancellor announced that a retired Supreme court Justice, Hon Justice Adolphus Karibe-Whyte will be honoured with Doctor of Letters of the University to ensure that as the Law Hall is commissioned as a contribution from the Bar, the bench is not left out at the event.
He announced that the University is breaking in leaps and bounds as its ranking in the Universities in Nigeria has moved from 97 out of 140 to 67th out of 140 universities in Nigeria, an indication the University is moving forward, even as he noted they are targeting to be 10th in Nigeria. He said as well that American Research Institute rated the University as one of the 9 recognized in Nigeria in research and that the university was recently elected into the Supreme council of West African Examination Council with JAMB ranking it second best in admission competence after University of Benin.
 Prof Okafor said the University mobilized its graduates of last year for the National Youth Service Corps because they have a stable calendar and that they are back for a second semester because of calm and conducive atmosphere whereas some Universities are still doing first semester.
The vice chancellor who was flanked by the dean of faculty of Engineering  Prof Moughalu and Head of Department Urban and Regional Planning , Dr Frank Onweluzo who is a Fellow of the Institute of Town Planners, said the University have some challenges including that of funding managing the students from different backgrounds to be of good conduct and behave better in learning and character.
He said challenge of infrastructure to meet the increasing demand from students to study in the institution has been an issue but thanked the state government and TETfund for its roles in improving infrastructure in the university. He informed that to meet NUC requirements in some courses , challenge of staff becomes relevant as well as ensuring lecturers behave within ethics and funding as running a university is very expensive.
