Edo lawmakers mother kidnapped

Abibat Adjoto, the 68-year old mother of a three-time lawmaker in the Edo State House of Assembly, Kabiru Adjoto, has been abducted by suspected kidnappers.

She was taken from her residence at Ikakumo village in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.

The kidnappers also abduct one of her adopted sons whose name could not be verified as at press time.

Sources said the suspected kidnappers invaded Ikakumo at about 1am on Thursday and shot sporadically for about two hours to apparently scare the villagers.

The lawmaker refused to comment on the abduction but a family member who pleaded anonymity said the kidnappers beat their victims before they forcefully took them away.

According to the source, "They came to our village and started shooting. They took mama away and one of her sons."

It was gathered that the abducters were yet to make any contact with the family for ransom demand.‎
