Awka Literary Society holds First Open Microphone Event for Creative Artistes and Obaze, Nworah , James Eze were there? on (13/2/16)

Oseloka H. Obaze read several poem from his new collection of poems Regarscent Past, including, The Blind Minstrel, Ogbunike Cave and An Ode to My Igbo Origin.

Several established and aspiring creative artistes, writers, poets, singers, comedians, rappers, artists, mimers, gathered at the Havila Suites Hotel, Awka for a Saturday afternoon soirée, an open microphone event organized by the Awka Literary Society on 13 Feb. 2015.

Ms Obitube a law student read a nostalgic poem about the good old days.

Tagged "express yourself" in a town where "blacksmiths and wordsmiths meet" the gathering had a eclectic participants all bound by the love or literature and performing arts. The five-hour event was convivial and revealed several hidden talents, mostly youth, who were seeking an enabling environment to showcase their respective talents.  The organizers promised to hold one session every quarter.
