APC in deep search for Lai Mohammed's replacement - Oyegun

The ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), has blamed the exit of its former National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed to the barrage of attacks that the party has received from the media, insisting that Mohammed’s exit from the party’s NWC has affected its public image.
Mohammed, who was the APC national publicity secretary was appointed to head the Ministry of Information and Culture by President Muhammadu Buhari, when he inaugurated his Federal Executive Council late last year.
The National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, noted that the party has not been able to fill the vacuum created by Mohammed’s exit, six months after because it has not been able to find a quality replacement.
Oyegun, who spoke to some journalists yesterday in his office in Abuja after resuming from his 10 days leave, stated that the party was faced with the challenges of getting a competent and effective person like Lai Mohammed.
He, however, stated that arrangements were on top gear to elect a National Publicity Secretary for the party.
“I think arrangements have been completed to hold the necessary congresses to nominate the spokesperson. I think that should be done very shortly. In fact the issue is getting somebody that can be as close as possible to the outstanding performance of the present minister of information, Lai Moham-med. I think that has been the issue. As a matter of fact if it means making adjustments, somebody who is good is priority number one and you can make adjustments subsequently.”
The APC national chairman also revealed that the planned activities of the party for the month would also hold. According to him, the APC Caucus meeting will hold on March 21, Board of Trustees, BoT meeting on 22 and the National Executive Committee, NEC meeting on 24.
Asked if the activities of the party for the month will still hold, the APC na-tional chairman said, “Yes, all the scheduled meetings of the party will run as planned, the caucus on the 21st, the BOT on the 22nd and NEC on the 24th. Everything will go as planned”.
