Alex Iwobi – Arsenal/Eagles Star – suffered food poisoning

Upcoming Arsenal star midfielder, Alex Iwobi has been diagnosed with food poisoning right in Super Eagles camp.

The 19-year-old was missing from training after he was hospitalised in Abuja.

The Arsenal midfielder, who just got his first call-up into the Nigerian National Team, the Super Eagles, had recovered from the initial down slide.

Our source at the Eagles' camp has confirmed that the lad made a speedy recovery and is already back in camp training with his team mates.

Meanwhile, the Super  Eagles has finally moved camp from Abuja to Kaduna, the venue of the upcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match with Pharaohs of Egypt on Friday.

All the invited Super Eagles Europe-based professionals have reported to camp.

They were seen on Tuesday training with their home-based counterparts ahead of the crucial encounter.

The players include John Mikel Obi of Chelsea, Russia-based Ahmed Musa, amongst others.

Officials for the Friday’s match between Nigeria and Egypt in Kaduna are scheduled to arrive in the country on Wednesday.

Referee Janny Sikazwe, Assistant Referee 2 Romeo Kasengele and Reserve Referee Wisdom Chewe are all expected to arrive in Abuja.

They will be conveyed via an Ethiopian Airline flight from Addis Ababa, alongside the match commissioner, Abbasi Ssendyowa from Uganda.

Assistant referee 1 Arsenio Chadreque Marengula, from Mozambique, will come into town on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation [NFF] has appealed to spectators coming to the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Friday to ensure they do not have any weapon of any kind on them.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, made the appeal in Abuja as the NFF continued the countdown to the big match.

“We are especially appealing to our football fans not to come with any item that might be seen as a weapon, because security will be very tight on the day.

“We also appeal passionately to the fans to co-operate fully with the security agents to make for hitch –free entry into the venue.

“Similarly, we are appealing to the fans to come to the stadium wearing green and white colours. We want the venue proudly adorned in our national colours.”

Players and officials of the Super Eagles arrived in Kaduna on Tuesday afternoon, led by Head Coach Samson Siasia.

The Super Eagles clash with the Pharaohs of Egypt in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Friday, from 5pm, and both teams battle again in Alexandria on Tuesday, March 29.
