Why we want to be in Biafra, Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL) Explains

The Biafra Nations Youth League began first stage of it's Congress yesterday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, though Ikom had been advertised as the main Congress Centre but a decision was taken a day before the Congress among the BNYL National Executives mandating the League President to go ahead with the Congress in Akwa Ibom for a reason best known to the members, the first stage saw the declaration of support and alliance by Liberation Governing Council of Former British Southern Cameroon leading delegate (name withheld for security reasons).

"We have come to show solidarity, extend our hand of friendship and build a bond that should last beyond these tumultuous moments" the leading delegate said
"Great people of Biafra, you have a choice to make. That choice would need to be positioned on a decision to abide under the crippling fear of terror, torment, deprivation and decision to rise up as a people and defend your inalienable right to govern yourselves. The inhibitors of a people's quest for a separate homeland represents to both the Biafran and Ambazonia nation a disheartening reality. We must confront this reality now or remain silent slaves forever."

The Ambazonian delegate further expressed strong solidarity
"Based on a justifiable premise of bitter injustice that the Biafran people have suffered and continue to suffer, your distress cries for a well-deserved independent state has caught the attention and sympathy of my people"

He further stressed the fact that the people of Ambazonia and old Eastern region of Nigeria share not only a common colonial experience as a people, but that "our brotherhood as two sisters nations separated by artificial boundaries of colonial treaties are indestructible".

The Ambazonia delegates considered themselves as Biafrans by origin due to the fact that they inhabit the Bight of Biafra.

"Fellow Biafrans,
Let me seize this opportunity here and now to state with absolute clarity that the Ambazonia people's liberation Governing Council is not a pressure group neither a separatist nor secessionist movement of the Cameroons. However taking cognizance of the sufferings of our people under annexation, subjugation and recolonization by Cameroun and taking cognizance of the United Nations and AU charter's declaration of annexation, colonization and all forms of subjugation as criminal, illegal and a threat to world peace, the Liberation Governing Council of Ambazonia, deemed it necessary to pursue and secure our nations freedom and is thus bound as the sole legitimate instrument of governance representing the interest of our people and state taken hostage of, by La Republic du Cameroun".

The BNYL President Comrade Chimezie Obuka in his speech stated that the primary aim of the League is to unite the various ethnic groups of Biafran extraction and origin "which we believe will strength the struggle for Biafra self determination"

"Our vision is not far from that of other from that of other national and patriotic organizations, though our methodology and ideology may differ, we are never the less pursuing one just and unavoidable cause, that enshrined in the charter of the United Nations; that every people have the right to self governance and self determination, so within this legal framework of international jurisprudence, we the Biafra Nations Youth League move forward implementing the natural aspirations of all Biafrans.

The Biafra Youth League President further stated that it's only an independent Biafran political and military entity that will guarantee the future of the Biafran people.

His speech
"Who are the Biafrans?
"The Biafrans are those connected and share a cultural identity within the great Bay of Biafra, where we the Biafran people have lived for centuries".

"I welcome you all to Akwa Ibom State and I thank you all for according us your to deliberate on the issue that affects our people who inhabit the region known as Biafra ".

"At this historic juncture, it is imperative to cast our minds on the issue that culminated to the impasse that led to this meeting"
"After the freedom war of 1967-1970, we the people of Biafra allowed Nigeria Government to divide our ranks and make us slaves in their onslaught, we allow them to infiltrate, divide and disorganize us to the extent many of our youth are today denying their Biafran indigenous identity.
Despite this denial, the odds will still not favour us in Nigeria.

"The fact that we are Biafrans is indisputable, it is evidence in Bonny, Calabar and Port Harcourt where the bight of Biafra lies.
We are Biafrans because we are inhabitants of the bight of Biafra"

"What pains the Ejagham man pains the Igbo man, and what pains the Ijaw man pains every other Biafra ethnic nation".

It's quite unfortunate that the people of Biafra extraction are always the target whenever there is political and religious unrest in Nigeria.
The Government of Nigeria especially the Buhari administration have decided to drag Biafra agitation into the mud by using military action against us, inspite of this provocations, our so called political leaders have decided to form the "sit and look attitude".
It's quite unfortunate and disheartening that some Nigerian politicians of Biafra extraction are being used by the Hausa Fulani and their Yoruba allies to scuttle Biafra independence by making ill statements in the media just to please Nigeria Government, but they will fail.

"One may ask, what do the good people of Biafra wants? Ofcourse the answer is not far, the people of Biafra want a home they can call their own, a sovereign entity where they will control their God given resources, a home called Biafra.

"We in Biafra Nations Youth League are working round the clock to ensure that the great Biafra Nations stay focused in the struggle for independence.
We are here today to examine the historical roots of our predicament,
We are here to provide a platform for our youth at home and in the diaspora, to commune over the challenges facing us as great nation.

"I therefore urge each and everyone of us to remain steadfast in our quest for nationhood.

Others in attendance is a representative of the Biafra Liberation Council formally led by late Prince Orjiakor.

The BNYL  President in final address said he has to consult with respective Biafran groups, and tthe elders  before going ahead with the next stage of the Congress for him and members of the League alone, no new date has been fixed yet.
The President of BNYL and the delegates went into close doors discussion at Ikot Ekpene immediately after Congress.
