Valentine: Anglican Students revolt against sexual immorality, preach true love and peace in the society ----as College students paint Umunze Red

 www.odogwublog.com reports exclusively that Umunze, Orumba South local Government area, host community of Federal Government College (Technical) penultimate Sunday painted the entire community red in the red and white colours to match in celebration of Valentine and first Sunday in Lent.

The students who spoke to www.odogwublog.com exclusively on the import of Valentine frowned at the abuse of love and relationship, some youths have subjected Valentine period to be rather than the essence of the valentine which according to them is true love, unity and peace in the society unconditionally through personal and collective sacrifice like Jesus Christ did for mankind.

 The students who spoke at Chapel of Ascension , Federal College of Education (Technical), aka Center of Rehoboth shortly after the Valentine Sunday include Obiorah Chukwuemelie, 400 student of Information and Library Science; Uchenna Odogwu, 100 level Electrical and Electronics student; Chiamaka Nwachukwu , 300 level student of Information and Library science ; Chinemelum Obika , 400 level Chemistry student and Odionu Hope Nneka, 400 level student of Biology rejected the erotic love shown on Val day by youths.
They encouraged students and youths alike to ensure they use Val to show true and genuine love to people around them always and especially on days like Val’s day insisting that any love that is not unconditional and sacrificial is not Christ like and genuine but fake. They frowned at the abuse of love in all manners by their peers , warning over continued sexual abuse by youths in the name of love.

 In his sermon to mark the Sunday, Chaplain of the Chapel of Ascension, Federal College of Education (Technical) Umunze, Rev Too Akaegbobi said Val was not a free sex day for youths and adults alike  but a time of reflection of the true essence of love and reconciliation with Jesus Christ be seeking out for the poor and down trodden for a care and lovely act unsolicited.
Rev Akaegbobi said: ‘’ it is not a time to indulge in sex and immorality but a time of remembering the true meaning of Agape love which made Jesus Christ die on the cross for our sins. I urge you as a Christian to show heroic love for mankind and the Church. Any love with condition is not love . I am not happy that Valentine has been abused by youths an undergraduates in the society as a time for all manner of things perverse to the societal peace and growth. You may be shocked that some students married illegally in school but single at home abusing sex and family living. This is a time female students travel even up to Lagos and Abuja in the name of Love at Valentine. And it is a time of spend free and jamboree yet some could not afford basic needs in school’’, he concluded.
Speaking on the theme ‘’let love lead’’, Rev Akaegbobi insisted true Christians should avoid keeping records of evil acts against them by their fellow brothers and Christians since true love covers multitude of sins.

In their separate reactions, the Church Teacher of the Chapel of Ascension at the Permanent site of the college , Alaebo Onyebuchi  and a lecturer in the Agric department of the college ,Dr Orikpe Ephraim enjoined youths to desist from committing sexual immorality and all forms of pervasion  by first understanding the essence of the Val celebration. He said the Church organized a Pre Valentine seminar for the college students where the essence of true love and relationship was the watchword.
They said Val is practical in outlook despite the abuse by youths who engage in all sorts of things in the name of Val, insisting that love should be on the true tenets of God’s teachings. They encouraged youths to have a rethink and embrace the true essence of love at Valentine.
For the wife of the Clergy, Ozioma Akaegbobi and Mrs Amaka Okafor once one is at peace and happy with people around them , that is Valntine and nothing else. Okafor insisted that Val should be celebrated everyday by demonstration of love to one another and not for a particular day.
