Tambuwal takes a second wife in Kano

Unlike his colleagues who will go for a lavish and flamboyant ceremony, Sokoto State Governor and immediate past Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, recently organized a modest wedding in Kano where he took Maryam Mairo-Mustapha as a second wife.
Information available to The AUTHORITY on Saturday has it that Governor Tambuwal decided to take the measure in line with the current economic problems facing the country.
It was gathered that most of his friends and political associates who got wind of the secret wedding and stormed Kano from Abuja and other parts of the country were stranded as they could not locate the venue.
One of the Governor’s close friends and former colleague in the House of Representatives who came to Kano for the wedding in high spirit reportedly exclaimed, “This is not how Governors wed. Even though I know situation is a bit hard in the country, I expected a ceremony befitting his status as Governor. Even though we came from far for this, we will respect his wish and pray for a matrimonial bliss for his new family.”
The AUTHORITY on Saturday gathered that even in Sokoto, many government officials and members of his cabinet were not aware of the Kano wedding.
A senior female Civil Servant who craved anonymity said after waiting for official notification of the wedding, they gave up and decided their presence may not be needed, after all.
“We actually organized ourselves waiting to be part of the wedding activities. Some of us even prepared what to wear but we were told it would be a private wedding and that only family members would attend.
“What is the point of attending an event you are not invited? We didn’t begrudge the Governor. It is good he has shown to us that he is a man of modesty and we wish him success in his marriage,” she added.
A close associate of the Governor also disclosed that Governor Tambuwal banned congratulatory messages and adverts for the wedding from his cabinet members, political associates and friends saying that they could channel the resources to other projects that can impact positively on the life of the suffering masses.
