I Am Not thief In Government, Says Anambra Governor, Obiano

www.odogwublog.com reports that Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state has said that he is not in government to either acquire wealth or steal from the state to be rich as he is already contented with what he has.
The governor who stated this while hosting a cross section of journalists in Anambra said he is focused to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state as he promised during campaigns.
He said that is the reason his government has adopted the approach of doing more with less funds, even in the face of dwindling oil revenue, which has crippled some states and even made its chief executives to be wanting in payment of salaries.
“Most of you know how I came to become the governor, I did not set out to become one, but God made it possible. I used to tell myself that the reason God made it possible is for me to do a good job and help contribute my quota to the growth of the society.
“I am a transparent fellow, and I am not here to steal. I am a rich man in my own right, and am contented with what I have. Some people think it is a lot of enjoyment to be a governor, but they do not know the difficulties in it. At some point when you should be resting, some folks will come to disturb your peace, but you have to do it because you are their governor.” Obiano said.
He also told journalists that he is currently being owed the sum of N34billion by the federal government, being funds he expended on federal roads in the state, and he appealed to the federal government to reimburse the state as the funds were meant for other projects, but used to rehabilitate federal roads because of their very bad shape in the state.
Obiano said that Anambra was among the few states of the federation that are still paying workers salaries promptly, and that the case of Anambra is that he has even increased salaries and also mapped out incentives for workers in rural areas and for teachers who teach core subjects in government owned schools.
