Exclusive: Awka Boils as Man killed, Obi Ochije escapes death by whiskers over land

Human Rights Activist and Chairman of Ezinano Youths, Awka , Comrade Obi Ochije nearly lost his life this evening but his posh vehicle was not spared as it was destroyed by his attackers, reports www.odogwublog.com exclusively.

A police source was not authorized to speak to the press, said ‘’ you can see our men are there already but ask the PRO for whatever you need. What we are talking about is human life and not the vehicle that was destroyed because the vehicle could be replaced by the suspects but life could not be replaced. It is despicable to take laws into our hands. A man is killed but the name is not yet ascertained’’.

The police Public Relations officer (PRO) DSP Okechukwu Ali’s line was not connecting as at press time.

The Awka elders and youths were said to be clearing the land for ultimate sharing by clans and families before another set who were not happy with the development came and stopped them from working but it was allegedly resolved later and work continued until yesterday.

It was gathered that some people came to the site with a gun and others there were struggling to disarm those with gun when it went off and killed unsuspecting member and the bubble burst.

The same people allegedly moved to town and beat up a member of the group and Chairman of Ezinano youths, clearing the site destroying his vehicle Comrade Obi Ochije.

www.odogwublog.com  saw the vehicle at Ukwudala but there tension was high that he could not get the registration number.

But the victim and owner of the damaged vehicle, Comrade Ochije who spoke from his hospital bed in Awka said he narrowly escaped death but did not accuse anybody pointedly as he said,’’ the same people who went to our land with gun and killed somebody , nearly killed me today. They damaged my car and I escaped death by whiskers. I am on the hospital bed now. They are after my life even when I petitioned the Commissioner of Police naming people who wanted to kill me’’.

Ezinano comprised of twenty villages in Awka who owned the land and the majority of all the lands donated to the government came from Ezinano.

Ochije had petitioned Anambra state commissioner of police , CP Hassan Hosea Karma who it was leant ordered investigations into the circumstances leading to the threat to life of the Chairman of Ezinano community comprising of 20 villages in Awka, Comrade Ochije.

The CP Anambra was unhappy innocent and law abiding citizens are been harassed and threatened in the city where he superintends and assured that no stone would be left unturned.
CP Karma was acting on a petition sent to his office by C.A Asadu , solicitors and advocates for Ochije but the outcome was yet to be made public before Wednesday’s attack.
