Emmanuel Okonkwo, ABS Correspondent reports AMEN, ASUBEB, organizes award and prize giving day

The Association for Moral Education, Nigeria, AMEN, in collaboration with the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, has organized a motivational award giving day for worker/teachers under primary education sub-sector of the state.

The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, said primary education is the foundation the other levels of education, which when faulty, would result to poor academic performance.

He urged the teachers to always handle the pupils with care, because they have the power to build or destroy their academic lives.

Chief Umeh also encouraged teachers to make it a point of duty to instill the love for Igbo language and culture in the children, to save it from going into extinction, noting that promotion and preservation of the Igbo language and culture is a collective task for the Igbos.

The incumbent APGA National Chairman, Chief  Victor Oye, represented by the party’s state secretary, Barrister Tony Ifeanya, said good moral is the base of any successful society, without which there would be state of anarchy, and called on the masses to upgrade morality in the society.

To the ASUBEB Chairman, Chief Nzemeka Olisa, the award is to spur teachers in the sector to be more devoted to duty, urging the awardees to see the award as a call to more faithful and committed service.
On her part, the AMEN National Coordinator and state desk officer for moral education, Reverend Sister Mary-Theresa Nwodo, while appreciating Governor Obiano’s education friendliness, stated that it has put smiles on the teachers’ faces.

She charged the teachers to reciprocate the kind gesture by making hardwork their watch word.
In their separate speeches, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Primary Education, Mrs. Pat Offiah, the member I ASUBEB, Dr. Mrs. Chinelo Okechukwu, and the Permanent Member III, ASUBEB, Sam Mozube, maintained that good work pays, encouraging the teachers to buckle up so as to be among the beneficiaries next time.
