85 Year Old Mother Of Wike's Aide Kidnapped

The 85 year old mother of Dr Austin Tam-George, Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Mrs. Patience Tam-George, the mother of Governor Nyesom Wike’s aide was kidnapped at about 8.55pm, on Saturday by masked gunmen, on her way from Church, at George-Ama, in Okrika, Okrika Local Government Area of the state.

Dr. Tam-George confirmed the incident on Sunday that his mother was kidnapped on her way from Church, on Saturday evening. “Yes, my mother was kidnapped on her way from Church, at about 8.55pm, on Saturday. She is 85 years old and her name his patience”.

He pleaded : “I am appealing to her abductors to release my mother unhurt to the family. My mother is a harmless woman. My mother, Patience, is 85 years old. My mother cannot hurt anyone. She had gone to Church as she has done for years to pray and worship God’.

A family source said that the abductors had made contact with the family, but refused to disclose if the kidnappers have asked for a ransom. The source stated: “The kidnappers have contacted the family of our aged mother but we have no further information on what was discussed. We also do not have any information on whether they have
demanded for a ransom or not”.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP. Ahmad Mohammad confirmed that the command had received information about the kidnap of a woman in Okrika but said the information given to the police did not suggest that the victim is the mother of the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications.

 The Rivers State Police Spokesman stated in a text message to The Authority: “There was a reported kidnapping case of a woman at Okrika to the Police but she is not the mother of the personality you said. Efforts are on to safely rescue the victim”.
