Vice Chancellor Ilemobade: Killers to die by hanging

 It was pay back time yesterday, for the killers of the former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) as they were sentenced to death by hanging.
Justice Olumide Williams of the Ondo State High Court, Akure handed down the death sentence on Ita Enang and Olayemi Bamitale after finding them guilty as charged.
According to the court, both Enang and Bamitale must die by hanging.
Professor Ilemobade was killed in September last year by Enang and Bamitale who were both his domestic staff.
While Enang was Ilemobade’s gateman, Bamitale was his driver and they both worked closely with the late university don.
The culprits stranglelated the VC and dumped his remains in an empty stall in his compound at Ijapo area of Akure before carting away his Toyota Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and other valuables.
Ilemobade body was later found by family members, days after he was killed.
However, the two culprits were arrested in Ogun State by Police detectives, while attempting to sell the stolen car.
In his judgment, Justice Williams held that the prosecution has proven beyond any reasonable doubt that the two accused persons caused the untimely death of the Late professor for their selfish gain.
The court also found the convicts guilty of conspiracy and robbery for taking away Ilemobade’s car, laptops, phones, N7,000 and other belongings.
The Judge frowned at the dastardly act of the Enang and Bamitale, saying, “it is a further revelation that youths of nowadays just want to be rich regardless of how it comes.”
The prosecuting state counsel, Mr. Adesola Tuki hailed the judgment, saying it would serve as a deterrent to those that may have such intention in the future.
