In tandem with his commitment towards making Anambra state a food basket of the nation, Governor Willie Obiano has again made a remarkable step as he, on Tuesday, flagged-off a modern integrated poultry farm project at Igbariam, Anambra East Local government area.
This project was berthed after a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Anambra state government and the Lynden Company on the 29th of April, 2016.
Flagging off the project, Governor Obiano stated that it is line with the state government’s economic transformation strategy especially as regards the Agricultural sector. The governor disclosed that the project on completion will generate over 250 direct jobs and 2500 indirect jobs. He further added that the state government is really doing well in area of Agriculture as most of the investments are already yielding profits and serving the needs of the people of the state. He advised the people of Igbariam to accord the company the maximum support and secure the area as it will create employment for the people of the area.
Explaining the description of the investment, the managing director and CEO of ANSIPPA, Hon. Joebilly Ekwunife stated that the Lynden Integrated Farms project is aimed at enhancing the state’s poultry industry pointing out that poultry is a major part of the state’s agricultural agenda. He disclosed that the major objective of the project is to develop a modern integrated poultry farm in the state to produce high quality eggs ad poultry meat. Hon. Ekwunife revealed that the size of the project is 15 billion naira, which will be provided by Lynden integrated farms as the state government has already provided 75 hectares of land for the project. On the benefits derivable from the project, the ANSIPPA boss stated that aside the jobs creation, the project will provide a major boost to the agricultural sector in the state and provide a dependable source of poultry products for the hospitality and related industries. He also added that it would boost the state’s internally generated revenues from the state’s shares in dividends.
The honourable commissioner for Agriculture in his remark commended Governor Obiano on his strides in the Agricultural sector as the state is already witnessing the dividends of his investments in the sector. He further urged the youths in the state to enroll in the state’s school of Agriculture.
In his remark, the chair of Lynden Integrated Farms, Clem Nwogbo thanked the governor for the confidence reposed on the group as partners of the state in implementing the Agriculture policy of his administration. Mr. Nwogbo stated that in addition to the project in Igbariam, efforts have been put in place to design and implement an out-grower scheme for the production of eggs in the 21 local government areas of the state.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the chairman, Anambra East Local Governemnt Council area, Hon. Cyril Udeano thanked the governor for his numerous investments channeled to the council area and urging the people of the state to keep supporting the governor in his good works.
Highpoint of the occasion was the foundation laying ceremony which was performed by the governor.
Present at the event include traditional rules, members of the state executives and community members.
