The Ralph Uwazuruike-led Biafra Independence Movement (BIM) on Tuesday said it will follow the example adopted by Indian Nationalist Leader, Mahatma Gandhi. The group, therefore, said it will rule out any form of political leadership either elective or by appointment in the emerging new Biafran government.
In a statement issued by the New Biafra Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha, made available to The AUTHORITY, he disclosed that BIM will en-trench secession clause in the constitution of Bia-fra as was obtained in SWISS working document which said that any region that is dissatisfied with how the federation is run can secede without interference.
“After we have achieved independence, the Biafran Leader, Uwazuruike is not likely to assume the mantle of leadership. He will only play advisory roles and retire to take up community works in an area that will be beneficial to the Biafran people, for instance, mechanised farm-ing, poultry and fishing pond. He is a Messiah as God sent to fight our cause”.
BIM observed that because of good governance in Switzerland, many decades after the country had independence, no region had ever indicated its interest to break away.
Meanwhile at a joint special meeting of BIM/MASSOB in Rumuekini in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State at the weekend attended by Chief Monday Dibia, Okolo Mba, RSM Nwafor including the New MASSOB Leader, Solomon Chukwu, among others, Mocha said, “Our Niger Delta brothers and sisters, one good day like this, we will sleep at night in Nigeria then wake up the next morn¬ing in the republic of Biafra.
BIM insisted that Ndigbo and Niger Delta people do not deserve Biafra if the new nation cannot be better than Nigeria, stressing that the current struggle for Bia-fra to attain self rule was premised on the idea that certain principles which had been beneficial to America, Israel and Switzerland will be borrowed by BIM to make Biafra a great Nation.
