The All Progressives Congress (APC) is happy for creating confusion and tension in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the crisis in the party yesterday took another dimension as the Acting National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, Board of Trustee (BoT) Chairman, Bello Haliru Mohammed and the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, were asked to step aside from their positions.
The call was made in Abuja on Monday by PDP Deputy National Officers.
While Secondus was asked to revert to his elective position as the Deputy National Chairman following the court order that sacked him from acting in National Chairman capacity so that the North-East would complete its tenure of four years, Mohammed and Metuh were asked to step aside, fol-lowing their ongoing trials on various charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The statement to this effect was signed by Hon Dennis Alonge-Niyi, Deputy National Youth Leader, Barr Bashir Maidugu, Deputy Nation Legal Adviser,
Mr Okey Nnaedozie, Deputy National Organising Secretary and Barr Abdullahi Jalo Deputy National Publicity Secretary.
They said that Secondus, Mohammed and Metuh’s con¬tinued stay in office has brought PDP to disrepute.
The officers called on the PDP Governors’ Forum, BoT and the national caucus to prevail on Mohammed and Metuh to step aside, insisting that the National Executive Committee (NEC) should, as a matter of urgency, appoint a new spokesman in line with the party’s constitution.
