Tension in Nigeria as terrorists hijack Lagos govt website, threaten Nigeria, U.S, others

There is tension now in Nigeria as terrorists whose identity are not known yet have hijacked the official website of the Lagos State government, www. lagosstate.gov.ng and posted messages describing the Nigerian government, that of United States, Israel and others as state sponsors of terrorism.
The group posted the message probably in retaliation for the death of members of the Shiite Is¬lamic Sect, in Zaria, Ka¬duna state, last weekend by soldiers in the convoy of the Chief of Army staff, Lt Gen. Buratai.
The message accused the Nigerian government, United States of America, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Tur¬key and Qatar are state sponsors of terrorism. The message reads, “In the Name Of GOD. Message to Nigeria Government and State Sponsors of Terrorism (USA, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar):
“Boko Haram and ISIS are terrorists, They are killing Muslims and in¬nocent people because of your dirty money, Hey Nigeria Government you killed thousands of Mus¬lims and specially Za¬kzaky’s family too, You are all terrorists, You are all murderers, GOD damn you! Allahu maulana wala mula lakum”
In a swift reaction, Lagos state government ad¬mitted that its website was hacked, saying it has how¬ever retrieved the website from the control of the ter¬ror mongers.
A press statement issued and signed by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, yesterday stated that ,” the State Government wishes to inform the general pub¬lic that its website, http:// www.lagosstate.gov.ng was in the early hours of today, Friday, December 18, 2015 hacked by unknown individual or group posting provocative mes¬sages on the site.”
He said the website has however been retrieved while the bugs left behind from the hack are being cleared.
It promised that the website would soon be re¬stored, better and stronger to continue in its tradition of giving accurate and up-to-date information on the activities, policies and programmes of the State Government.
The statement added that the incident has been reported to the State Secu-rity Service and the police.
It implored Lagos resi¬dents to be supportive of the present administration and continue to follow its activities on other so¬cial media platforms like Twitter @ followlasg and on Facebook.com/follow¬lasg.
