Mazi Obi Okoli Resigns From Ohaneze Ndigbo
We received with shock and admiration the news of the resignation of Mazi Obi Okoli from the executive of Ohanaeze Ndigbo UK, where he serves as Ohanaeze Ndigbo UK Vice President (Imo State). He also serves as the Coordinator of Congress of Igbo Leaders UK, a position he also plans to relinquish at the next AGM meeting.
When our reporter called on him to verify the news, He told our reporter that he could not continue to be part of an organisation that does not represent the collective feeling, pain and suffering of Ndigbo. He critiqued Ohanaeze Ndigbo, all Eastern governors and Igbo leaders for not living up to the expectation of our people. He condemned the recent killings of unarmed peaceful protesters in the East and called on the military and the police to act responsibly in accordance with the rule of law in dealing with the protest.
The great Arondizuogu son condemned the continued attitude of the federal government of Nigeria in dealing with the lack of federal presence in Igbo land, especially the political, economic and environmental neglect of East.

He called on the federal government of Nigeria and all the Northern state governors to make sure that the lives, property and dignity of all Easterners in their territories are respected, stating that we will not continue to tolerate the situation where our people are murdered like flies.
He said: “against all odds, we must rise as a people and begin to rebuild the wasted hopes of our people. We have for so long born the pain of denial of Nigeria and the world of the genocide committed against our people. I must say that no matter how much they deny or refuse to acknowledge the evil perpetrated against our people that we shall continue to pay homage to their valour and splendour of courage.”
Mazi Obi Okoli called for a full investigation into the unprovoked shooting and murder of peaceful protesters in Onitsha. He said that the perpetrators of that hideous crime must be brought to face the law.
On the issue of the current agitation for the sovereign state of Biafra, Mazi quoted our greatest hero Dike Di Oramma, Dim Ojukwu, “As a people we have endured as only giants would endure. We have fought as heroes fight. We have dared as only gods dare. We are disillusioned by the continued world’s insensitivity and denial to the plight of our people. Yet because our cause is just, we believe that the world would listen to the voices of our people and ask Nigeria for a referendum to decide that faith of our nation.”
In his respectable voice, he told the Voice of Biafra, BVI-Channel 1, that it is time for true sons and daughter of East to speak up against the evil and marginalisation and set our people towards the part of freedom. He urged the protester to remain peaceful; in their agitation for the rights of self-determination. He called on them to continue to respect the lives, property and dignity of other nationalities within our territory.

 When asked about his thoughts on the problems of Ndigbo. Mazi said that the greatest undoing of Ndigbo as a people is that when other played regional politics and regional development we played national, believing that others as universal like us. He said that the evil of selfishness, greed and arrogance which has been the ban of most Igbo leaders is to be blamed for the lack of leadership, vision and direction of our people. He opined that a new set of Igbo leaders must emerge to take our people to the level of respect, outstanding regional development and sustainability. He praised the efforts of Bilie Human Right Initiative for their unrelenting effort in using peaceful legal means to pursue the aspiration for self- determination. He also call on the Federal Government to release Mr Nnamdi Kanu, unconditionally.
On the issue of leadership, Mazi Okoli said he would be visiting home soon to facilitate with most Igbo leaders on the way forward for our people. Probed further to know those he planned to visit, he said: ” I will definitely see Chief Ikedife, Right Honourable Justic Eze Ozubu, Chief Chikwas Okorie, Chief Joe Achuzie and Dr Emmanuel Iwuanyawu to discuss the emergence of new leaders in Igboland.”
When asked if he plans to visit the governor of Imo Sate Chief Okorocha, he pleasantly declined the request.
