Some members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) in Ebonyi state on Friday joined the on-going protest by their members in other south-south and south eastern states of the country.

Recall that since pro-biafra protests started following the arrest of Biafra radio Director, Nnamdi Kanu, Ebonyi had not witnessed such protests until Friday.
The pro-biafra agitators were seen protesting along Old Enugu road in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, when police officers swooped on the protesters and arrested four of them. The incident caused pandemonium as motorists had to divert to alternative route to their destination.
The protesters, who were carrying Biafran flag and other insignia, had marched from Vanco junction chanting solidarity songs before they intercepted by the Police close to Government House Roundabout.
Eyewitnesses said the situation became tense when a detachment of Mobile Police and State Anti-Robbery Squad arrived in the scene to clear them of the road.
The incident caused a traffic gridlock that lasted for about thirty minutes as Police mounted brief checks within the scene.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, ASP George Okafor, confirmed that four of the protesters were arrested by the police for blocking the traffic.
ASP Okafor warned pro-biafra supporters to desist from breaching public peace in the state or be ready to face the full weight of the law. The development had raised security alert in the capital city as policemen were immediately drafted to strategic locations to maintain law and order.
