Pastor’s son murders teenage girl, stabs sister in Delta

Seventen-year-old Silas Anidi from Sapele, Delta State, in the early hours of Friday, allegedly raped and killed a 14- year- old girl, Mercy Akporo before stabbing her younger sister.
It was gathered that the suspect, whose father is a pastor of a church in Sapele, is currently in the police net.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspect,   said the suspect confessed to the crime and the victims and their parents worshipped in the suspect’s father’s church.
It was gathered that the deceasAed had, on her way back from church, stopped over at the suspect’s house and he had demanded sex from her and when she had turned him down, he raped and her and sliced her throat thereafter.
It was learnt the suspect cut the deceased’s younger sister’s hand several times, when she had raised the alarm and tried to escape.
Speaking to our correspondent, the father of the suspect, Mr. Benjamin Anidi said, “I do not know what came over my son, he has brought shame to me and to the entire church but he will pay dearly for his sins.”
Meanwhile, the police have arrested two persons, Tobechukwu Obiade and Emeka Francis, for allegedly robbing a female trader at the popular Ogbeogonogo market in Asaba last Tuesday.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect, Police Public Relations Officer in the State said the suspects were arrested on a tip off after the matter was reported to the police at the ‘A’ Division police station.
Narrating her ordeal in the hands of the suspected robbers, the victim, Mrs. Chioma Abigail said the suspects had some time ago broke into her house and stole N84,000 including two handsets and other items.
