Obiano’s wife fetes over 1000 children at Christmas

In clear demonstration of the overriding theme of Love at Christmas, the
wife of the governor of Anambra State, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano, at thursday, hosted over one thousand children drawn from different parts of the state to a special party and showered them with assorted gift items at the Governor's Lodge, Amawbia, Anambra State.

The exciting feast with lots to eat and drink attracted parents and guardians of the children in the wake of the roundup of her tour of communities in Anambra State where the governor’s wife presented bags of rice to many indigent widows, cash, school bags and bags of fertilizer to each of the communities.

Speaking after Father Christmas was driven into the arena to the thunderous cheering of the children, Chief (Mrs.) Obiano expressed happiness that the children honoured her invitation to celebrate Christmas with her and her family and wished them a merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

The wife of the governor charged the children to obey their parents and seniors, live by example and imbibe the virtues of hard work as an important feature in the new Anambra State by being part of the solution instead of the problem.

She also charged the children to take their studies serious so that the state would be the best in Nigeria in line with its moto of “Light of the nation’.

Said Mrs. Obiano; “I want you children to take your academics serious. Be the best you want to be so that Anambra State   will be the best state in the country. I want you to live by example, imbibe everything good so you can be at the top as the best. That way, we can maintain our position as the best and the light of the nation.”

The event featured dancing competition, question and answer session, spelling competition, and cutting of Christmas cake by the governor’s wife and the children accompanied by the State chairperson of APGA, Mrs. Chinyere Ibenta and other top officials of the State government.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of toys, and school bags containing some educational materials to all the children in attendance.
