Neither Ekwunife nor Umeh won Anambra Central elections-APC
• Anambra Central should vote for NASS power
We are inclined to agree with Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, INEC-declared winner of the March 28 senatorial elections now properly annulled by the Court of Appeal Enugu Division that there is apparently nothing in the ruling of the higher court foreclosing her participation, or that of that of her master-rigging party Peoples Democratic Party from participating in a repeat election that must hold before March 7, 2016.
We however vehemently disagree with her false claim as published in The Sun Newspapers of December 25, 2015, that the people of the zone are not happy that the election was annulled by the Court of Appeal. It is a White lie on Christmas Day.
Anambra Central Senatorial Zone ,according to our findings is lavishly celebrating the strike-down of Ekwunife’s Pyrrhic victory.
They are however not doing so in favour of Chief Victor Umeh who in addition to approving his own nomination as National Chairman of his party is going about dishonestly amending the ruling of the court to cheap ends. Our party however gives credit to Umeh for reporting himself and Ekwunife in the courts, do that Anambra Central may have a second chance to throw both of them out. Umeh it was who help to ensure that card readers did not work in the zone to enable him pollute the accreditation process. He it was who distributed cash contributed by Anambra State Government and seven Local Government Counsils in pick-up vans in polling units.
Aka Chukwu diya! ( We see the hands of hand therein)
The constituents of Anambra Central Senatorial zone are celebrating their chance to key into the change mode of Nigeria by producing a senator of APC to return Anambra State to the bastion of power in the National Assembly and they have their eyes on Senator Chris Ngige or any other credible candidate endorsed by Ngige and the APC who understand the ideals of the ruling party.
We agree that Chief Umeh does more propaganda than issue campaign, personally inventing fiction about opponents, and in the process, doing the work of his media team, secretary, treasurer and all those around him as was consistent even in his tenure of dispute as APGA National Chairman.
However, we also think that Ekwunife should be mindful not to out-do Umeh in this game, by suggesting that Anambra Central will not be happy with the cancellation of an election in which amoured tanks belonging to Nigerian Security agencies were abused by Ekwunife, Peter Obi and their allies to avert collation and jumble figures with half cleverness .
That thought alone, apart from the reality on the ground is disgusting.
We may need to remind Ekwunife that in the presidential elections held simultaneously with her dismantled 'victory' that fraudulently kept her in the Senate since June, total votes recorded by the electorate in the presidential election exceeded that scored in the Senatorial elections by far, when by all rules of credibility , the two numbers should tally, since ballot papers were used paripassu.
How then would Ekwunife be adding insult to injury by quoting those toxic figures now consigned to the dust bin of history, rather than apologizing to Anambra Central constituents, particularly the women folk for being such a bad ambassador, show-casing brigandage and roguery of kidnapping Adhoc staff of INEC as the stock in trade of the fair sex, at a time sympathy was drifting towards encouraging more women to participate.
We do not consider it an act of bravery when women out-do men in thuggery and flashing their eyes like car headlights in defence of iniquity, even when we acknowledge that men like Victor Umeh are yet to understand the functions of a senator, as distinct from a street activist. For an illustration, it sounds illusory that an aspirant to the office of Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will launch his campaign on the platform of ‘Biafra’.
We therefore urge Ndi Etiti Anambra to take advantage of this rare second chance to redress their earlier errors by voting APC in the forthcoming elections in which to all intents and purposes, THE CARD-READER MUST WORK, CASH MUST BE KEPT OUT OF POLLING AREAS and there must be COLLATION OF RESULTS AT ALL LEVEL as there wasn’t on March 28.
Once again we identify with Anambra Central voters in their strengthened determination to join the rest of Nigeria in free and fair election regime.
