Reactions have continued to trail the federal government directive to
scrap petroleum support fund, also known as fuel subsidy and to peg the
pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N85 per litre.
There has been mixed reactions since Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, the minister of state for petroleum resources and group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), made the announcement yesterday, December 25.
While some Nigerians welcomed the announcement by the federal government, other have described the reduction of petrol pump price from N87 to N85 per litre after the removal of fuel subsidy as a failed attempt to deregulate and regulate sector at the same time.
