Kwara imposes 24 hour curfew on Governor’s home town , others over communal clash

Following a reported communal clash between Share and Tsaragi communities in Kwara State, the state government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on both communities with immediate effect.
No fewer than 20 people were reportedly injured at the weekend in the clash over land dispute.
Share, which is the home town of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed in Ifelodun Local Government Area and Tsaragi town in Edu Local Government Area of the state, had always been embroiled in boundary disputes.
It was gathered that the current clash started when the people of Share allegedly embarked on tree felling in a land said to belong to Tsaragi town, leading to exchange of gunshots and use of other weapons.
Sources also said that schools belonging to Share town were vandalised allegedly by the youth from Tsaragi.
Meanwhile, the state government, in a message issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Isiaka Gold, on Sunday, warned that anyone found with illegal arms and ammunition or otherwise found disrupting peace and public order in both communities would be dealt with in line with the laws of the land.
