Governor El-Rufai allegedly attacked by mob

 A report about an attack of the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai went viral on social media earlier today after a Twitter user ‏@kaduna_project shared a video purportedly showing the governor running away in an SUV from an angry mob with clubs and other weapons.

Though opponents of the governors have circulated the video on social media and have used it to lampoon the controversial governor, we have not been able to independently verify that El-Rufai was indeed in the SUV.

The registration number of the black SUV is not visible in the low quality video, most likely shot with a low resolution camera probably from a mobile device.

The governor’s supporters are already putting forward strong defence on his behalf, while he has responded to the alleged attack via a tweet:

We are working for Kaduna State. Some others focus on inventing violence and false video clips. That is a matter for security agencies.
