www.odogwublog.com reports that Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Anambra state chapter yesterday re-united into one larger family to prosecute the re-run election of Senator Uche Ekwunife, Chairman Senate Committee on Petroleum, Downstream whose election was upturned last week by the Appeal court in Enugu.
At a stakeholders meeting today the attendees also vowed to move to another party should the national body of the PDP play with the choice of the people by shortchanging Ekwunife as the sole candidate of PDP.
Spokesperson of the PDP members, Former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra state vowed that Senator Ekwunife will win the election landslide against Chief Victor Umeh and requested all to join forces with her no matter anyone’s grievances to ensure PDP takes victory at the poll.
Obi warned those managing the resources of Anambra state to ensure they do not waste the state resources on the forthcoming re-run but to use the state resources for the good of the state as according to him, Ekwunife would beat Umeh over and over again in any future elections hence he taught Umeh would have accepted defeat than wait for a second disgrace at the polls.
‘’I am doing politics of individual, the person not party is what I am supporting. I am supporting Uche because she will represent us well at the center. This woman brought the last cheque I received from the Federal Government N1.2 Billion, she facilitated its release, because she is a goal getter and whatever she focuses on , she gets it done. We don’t want long cap or Distinguished or Hon, because it is not a family meeting but about the interests of Ndigbo and we want to retain the Chairmanship of Petroleum Down sector in Anambra central. Uche Ekwunife is firebrand, she would get our benefits at the center.
‘’We don’t want a spectator to watch the National Assembly. Let us do politics of sense party or no party and get our fair share from the Federal Government because the 80 percent of the resources of the federation is from oil. ……..why another primary? Was it not the same primary that brought others in other senatorial districts……let us beg our brothers who have interest to wait, hold on and support Senator Ekwunife because nothing would stop her from winning the re-run election. ……Victor has won long cap for years and there is nothing in that cap…’’.
