www.odogwulog.com reports that the election of the traditional ruler of Uke community, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra state weekend was more of power play between Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, with the former using all manners of intricks and political manoevering to produce Chief Charles Chukwudi Agbala as the winner against his elder brother, Dr Boniface Agbala who is said to be an APGA Chieftain.
It was reliably gathered that the state Government did not send observers during the election as it was not informed of it by the community coupled with the fact that the electoral procedure was not followed, the Dr Agbala followers conducted their own election outside that of the junior brother where he emerged victorious in his group. Prior to the election, there were lots of complaints and counter counplaints from some of the villages that the electrion was illegal and called for its postponement while others complained of two brothers emerging from same ward to contest which is against the constitution of the community and that the alleged winner, Charles Agbala was not the winner during the primary election and wondered how the candidate that emerged the winner, Dr Agbala, was schemed out. Contacted, the President General of the community, chief E D Enemuo said that the election was free, fair and credible and that Charles Agbala won. It would be recalled that the family of the late monarch of the community, vowed that all was vanity until the last ofala festival of the late monarch is performed, It was gathered that the youths of the community who were planning for a showdown in a bid to stop the election because of illegalities that trailed the conduct were stopped by the police on a tip off as the police dispersed them.
