Anambra Central senatorial election: The True position as Ekwunife livid over Umeh’s statement, exposes Umeh
The defeated candidate of APGA in the last ANAMBRA CENTRAL SENATORIAL RACE Sir Victor Umeh called the members of the Press and Social Media in his House at Enugwu and address them according to his low knowledge of Court process ,in that address he opined that Senator Uche Ekwunife was disqualified as a Candidate ,but that was not what the Judgement said ,which we will provide a Copy to .
Maybe as one IFEANCHO who spoke to our South East Editor said “Umeh may have shopped for disqualification of Ekwunife ,which everybody knew is his nemesis ,but the Judges sold him a dummy”, Umeh may have been sold a bad judgement which is not what he shopped for .
In reaction to the Press briefing from Umeh ,the Chief of Staff to Senator Uche Ekwunife reacted and we provide ”
Senator Mrs. Uche Ekwunife’s attention has been drawn to a press release by Chief Victor Umeh of APGA. Therein alleging that the conduct of the national election held on 28th March, 2015 was marred by irregularities which informed his decision to proceed to the election tribunal.
Anambra Central senatorial zone had approximately 720,000 registered voters out of which Senator Ekwunife scored 95,897 votes while Chief Umeh secured 83,127 votes. The total number of votes at that election represents less than 25% of the total registered voters in the zone and it is therefore clear to every right thinking person that the election was credible, free, fair and transparent.
Chief Umeh’s problem is that he did not have the opportunity of carrying out his rigging plans using State and Local Government machineries hence his attack on security personnel’s.
In every election, security agencies deploy security personnel to ensure conducive and enabling environment for credible elections to hold. In the forthcoming election ordered by the Court of Appeal, I believe they will do the same.
Chief Victor Umeh wants us to believe that President Jonathan was the reason he failed in the March election but we recall that same Chief Umeh stopped APGA from fielding a presidential candidate and adopted President Jonathan as the sole candidate of APGA in 2015 general elections. To convince the electorate and sell himself, Chief Umeh made sure that President Jonathan’s picture was in all his billboards and posters. Also, he instituted a campaign platform called “Join Jonathan Journey (JJJ) ” and made it’s inauguration a State function. Furthermore he rented an edifice for JJJ, one that is far bigger and more worthy of an office than his party’s Head Office.
It is pertinent to note that Chief Umeh used his party APGA to sue President Buhari and challenged his eligibility to run for presidential election on the grounds that his educational qualification was in doubt and published the ‘mischief’ in four national newspapers. All these efforts were to please President Jonathan and to ride on his back to defeat Senator Mrs. Ekwunife.
Today, he is praising same President Buhari and condemning President Jonathan, all in the bid to curry favour and solicit for presidential support and to deceive the electorate.
For record purposes, the Court of Appeal just like the Election Tribunal did not refute the fact that Senator Ekwunife won the March 28 election convincingly rather, the Court doubted the authenticity of the PDP primaries that produced her as the PDP senatorial candidate for Anambra Central and on that basis called for a fresh election in 90 days.
Let it be noted for the records too that all PDP candidates emerged through same primaries that produced Senator Ekwunife but of all the election cases in Anambra State before the appeal panel her election was the only one that was reversed at the Court of Appeal under that circumstance. The Court of Appeal upheld Tribunal’s position in all the rest.
Notwithstanding the surprising pronouncement of the Court, Senator Ekwunife has taken it in good faith and has since moved on with her campaigns for the forth coming election. I want to inform Chief Umeh that Senator Ekwunife is not his problem and should stop blackmailing her. His problem is the electorates who have rejected him massively. Senator Ekwunife defeated him in March election, she will defeat him again in the forthcoming election and will always defeat him.
